The artistic universe of Eclats Urbains

Eclats Urbains is part of the Chromie series, which explores color through oil painting.

Created from a deliberately restricted palette composed of white, ochre, Helios red, and dark ultramarine blue, the work explores the internal tensions of color to reveal its luminous potentialities.

By superimposing and juxtaposing strokes, the surface is constructed like an unstable mosaic where each trace contributes to an overall vibration. Far from any representation, the painting engages in a process of emergence: light does not describe, it occurs. It is born from the friction of pigments, their density, and their interaction.

While the composition remains abstract, it is imbued with a sensitive experience of the nocturnal urban landscape. Between attraction and saturation, the city manifests itself as a field of intensities, a continuous luminous flux that captivates the gaze as much as it conditions a way of dwelling.

This work thus questions painting as a space for the production of light, at the crossroads of a physical perception and a sensitive memory of the urban night.
