D.U.N.E is part of the Chromie series, which explores color through oil painting.
From a limited palette of white, ochre, and dark ultramarine blue, this work seeks to make color burst forth to extract light from it. Like a mosaic of traces, each brushstroke is added, mixed, and blended into the color, to create a luminous fabric in motion.
Like a pixelated image, the work also highlights the degradation of the dune, while showing the intense light and fragility of the environment. It translates a fleeting memory where atmosphere takes precedence over form.
This abstract work evokes the Arcachon basin and more particularly the Dune du Pilat, visible from the sandbanks of the basin or the discreet land of Cap-Ferret. Like a pixelated image, it suggests the degradation of the dune and the fragility of this unique environment. To capture its intense light is to reveal the dazzling beauty of this landscape. The work translates a fleeting memory where atmosphere takes precedence over form.
