The artistic world of Coteaux Voilés
Coteaux voilés is part of the Chromie series, which explores color through oil painting.
Using a limited palette of white, black, ochre, and burgundy, this artwork bursts with color to extract light from it.
Vast flashes of white traverse the surface like a light returning from afar. Above, the gray retains the softness of a restrained sky; below, the ochre warms the space with an earthy and fertile presence. A few burgundy inflections emerge then fade, like beats of memory.
Something of a beginning remains here. Not a narrative, but a sensation: that of a limitless horizon, of a time when momentum preceded certainties. Everything then seemed to be in the making, carried by a silent trust in the days to come.
The painting does not recount this past; it gathers its inner light. A light that persists, discreet but intact, in the material and in the gaze.
